PURPOSE: To enable the paste width on a sizing roller to be automatically adjusted in accordance with the web width by controlling the immersion width of the sizing roller on the basis of traveling signals and width signals of web. CONSTITUTION: When the one sided cardboard sheet is manufactured at low speed, paste width B0 shifting on the outer peripheral surface of a sizing roller is controlled to be in correspondence with the inside width of paste dams 21, 2b determined by detecting signals of a photocell 26 for detecting the width end of core paper 11. On the other hand, after the initiation setting, when the manufacturing speed is made high, the paste width B0 becomes wider than the inside width of the paste dams 2a, 2b set in the initiation resulting in spreading of the paste, and in this instance, however, the paste dams 2a, 2b are moved to the central side only for a width correction amount ofΔW being equivalent to the spreading amount of the paste via a motor 3 and rotation number detecting device 13 in order to control the width B of the core paper 11 and the actual paste width B0 shifted on the outer peripheral surface of the core paper 11 to be in accordance with each other.
