PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which has a high variable magnification ratio and has such a high optical performance as to respond to the usage of a solid imaging element of wide viewing angle for instance. SOLUTION: The zoom lens comprises a first lens group L1 having a negative refractive power, a second lens group L2 having a positive refractive power and a third lens group L3 having a positive refractive power in order from the object side to the image side and performs the zooming by changing intervals between the respective lens groups. Therein, the first lens group has a negative lens and a positive lens, the second lens group has a positive lens and a negative lens, the third lens group has a positive lens and the surfaces of the object side and the image side of the negative lens G11 of the most object side of the first lens group are made to be non-spherical shape.
