PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high-quality 2-chloropropane by carrying out a reaction between propylene and hydrogen chloride for long hours. SOLUTION: The method for producing 2-chloropropane comprises reacting propylene with hydrogen chloride in the presence of a catalyst in which iron oxide contact-treated with hydrogen chloride is used as the catalyst. In addition, the method for producing 2-chloropropane comprising reacting propylene with hydrogen chloride in the presence of a catalyst is characterized in that iron oxide and ferric chloride are used as the catalyst.
