The invention relates to a reformer of hydrocarbons and/or alcohols, comprising a first circuit for producing hydrogen and a second circuit for conducting gases produced by means of the combustion of natural gas and air in a burner (1), and characterised in that the second circuit comprises an internal shield (21) made of a material that gives off heat, and in that the first circuit comprises a plurality of straight parallel reaction tubes (11) positioned circumferentially around said internal shield (21). Same permits the production of a more efficient process, and thus greater output and a more uniform temperature, defining two heat transfer zones, one via radiation of the heat coming from the flame of the burner, defined by the internal shield, and another via convection, defined in the zone where the deflector and the coil is arranged.
