PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spray drying method which can perform control of a dried product when a consistent distribution in size is desired.SOLUTION: An article containing one or more channels or microfluidic channels is used to mix one or more fluids prior to spray drying. The mixing may occur immediately before the fluids are expelled through a nozzle or another opening into a drying region of a spray dryer. For example, a first fluid is exposed to a second fluid, then the fluids are exposed to air or another gas before being expelled through the nozzle. In a certain case, the first fluid may contain a dissolved species that may precipitate upon exposure to the second fluid; and such precipitation may occur immediately before expulsion through the nozzle or the other opening, thereby resulting in controlled precipitation as a part of the spray drying process.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
