CONSTITUTION:A solenoid 76 is provided for rotating a support arm 72 for oscillating a pickup roller 37 from a pickup position A to a returning position B after taking a paper sheet P from a sheet cassette means 10. The sheets P taken together are securely returned into the sheet cassette means 10 after completion of sheet feed, and the sheet P is prevented from protruding to be caught at a front frame of a sheet feed unit to be damaged when the sheet cassette means 10 is pulled.
