<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading technology for mounting on an area smaller than that of a face type sensor without need of joining processing of images. <P>SOLUTION: An image reader 10 includes: a rotary body 11 rotating with a prescribed rotary axis as a center; and a reading means 12 having a reading face which is at least partially fixed to the surface of the rotary body 11 for reading a detection object image facing the reading face, and for outputting an image signal showing the read image.
