DURABLE PH-BUFFERING PROCESSING OF FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for imparting a durable pH-buffering effect to a fiber, enabling to impart the durable pH-buffering effect to the fiber in any case of an acidic region and an alkaline region and obtain the fiber preferable for the skin of a human by adhering a functional protein composition to the fiber and subsequently subjecting the fiber to a specific aftertreatment. SOLUTION: This method for imparting a durable pH-buffering effect to a fiber comprises dissolving a protein (e.g. albumen protein) in water, adjusting the pH of the solution to an acidic region, crosslinking the protein with a crosslinking agent, adhering the obtained functional protein composition to the fiber, and subsequently subjecting the treated fiber to an aftertreatment using the aqueous solution of an anionic surfactant and/or an alkali aqueous solution having a pH of >=8. The functional protein is usually adhered to the fiber in an amount of approximately 0.05-10wt.% based on the weight of the fiber.
