A method for monitoring an object to be managed through an MIB and an apparatus thereof are provided to reduce the load of a system and network when monitoring the object through the MIB. An apparatus for monitoring an object to be managed comprises the followings: a simple network management protocol(SNMP) manager(30) which manages the status information of the managed object(34); and an SNMP agent(32) which grasps the status information of the managed object at the request of the SNMP manager, and then transmits the grasped result to the SNMP manager in the octet string form. If the SNMP manager requests the status information of the managed object from the SNMP agent, the SNMP agent collects the status information of managed objects, and then transmits the collected results to the SNMP manager.
