PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for cleaning an ink jet head or the like capable of effectively cleaning a nozzle surface and reducing waste of a cleaning liquid used for cleaning the nozzle surface and cost involved in the cleaning.SOLUTION: A device 70 for cleaning an ink jet head 54 includes: a cleaning unit 71 for holding a porous body 72 which absorbs the cleaning liquid for cleaning a nozzle surface 54a of the ink jet head 54 having a plurality of jet nozzles formed thereon; a lifting unit 22 for lifting the cleaning unit 71; and a first conveyor belt 27 (a first conveyor unit 20) for conveying the cleaning unit 71 back and forth along the nozzle surface 54a in a state of bringing the porous body 72 held by the cleaning unit 71 into contact with the nozzle surface 54a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
