<p>The method involves forming a control-ROM on a chip, programming instructions for performing operation in the control-ROM, and forming a micro-sequencer on the chip to perform, in response to the micro-codes from the external source, the operation of the memory array according to the instructions programmed in the control-ROM. The micro-sequencer has a test multiplexer for receiving micro-codes from the external source and for coupling a first signal to an instruction decoder with built-in logic block observation (BILBO) control. The instruction decoder with BILBO control also receives an operation code from the control-ROM. The instruction decoder with BILBO control controls a subroutine stack and furnishes an index signal A program counter multiplexer (PCM) receives the operation code, for receiving a second signal from the subroutine stack, and for receiving a third signal from an incrementer. The PCM furnishes a fourth signal to the control-ROM.</p> |
