The device has three Bowden cables (2-4) coupled with each other by a sliding unit (15), which is movable in a coupling (1), where the cables (2, 3) are guided in guiding rails (15a, 15b) of the sliding unit for relative movement between the sliding unit and the cables. The cable (4) is connected with a pre-tensioning device (5) arranged in a housing lower part (12) of the coupling. The device (5) has a spring-loaded adjusting unit (52) with a locking unit (53), and a fixing unit arranged at a housing upper part is engaged at the locking unit in a closed condition of the coupling. An independent claim is also included for a method for actuating a door i.e. sliding door of a vehicle.
