<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the speed of access to a peripheral device including an access-restricted register cannot be increased in a conventional data processing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The data processing apparatus includes: peripheral devices A to C each including a plurality of registers each storing a preset value or data; an operation circuit 10 for outputting access authority information indicative of a first access authority level or a second access authority level lower than the first access authority level according to a program to be executed, and an access address to specify a specific register; and a peripheral device protection circuit 12 connected to the operation circuit 10 and receiving the access authority information and the access address to control access of the operation circuit to the peripheral devices.
