<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording/reproducing device capable of deciding optimal recording conditions by eliminating evaluation data (jitters, or modulation degree) affected by a defect even when the defect such as a flaw or a fingerprint is present in an OPC area. <P>SOLUTION: A pickup 12 reproduces a test signal recorded in the OPC area of an optical disk 10 by switching a plurality of kinds of recording conditions by an ECC block unit. A control unit 15 detects the evaluation data (jitters or modulation degree) of the reproduced test signal from an RF signal processing section 14. When evaluation data obtained at the cycle of a plurality of ECC blocks recorded per track is larger than that obtained from the ECC block before or after, the control unit 15 judges that the evaluation data are an ECC block having a defect, and obtains optimal recording conditions from remaining evaluation data other than the evaluation data of the reproduced test signal of one track cycle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
