PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device with a high luminous efficacy and durability. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device has an organic compound layer consisting of at least one layer which contains a light emitting layer containing a light emitting material between a pair of electrodes. The organic compound layer contains at least one kind of compound represented by the general formula (I). In the general formula (I), L<SP>1</SP>to L<SP>6</SP>represent a single bond or a bivalent linkage radical.
