Commutation process for a rotating electrical machine with two power sources

The machine has two armature windings (BS1,BS2) each with its own rectifier bridge (PR1,PR2) and two auxiliary rectifier bridges (PA1,PA2). A switch (IN) between the auxiliary rectifiers allows connection of the two outputs in series or in parallel. The rotating machine has an excitation controller (REG) to alter the rotor excitation during switching, thus reducing voltage disturbance during the switching transition.
