A marking device for applying a marking on an object. The marking device (10) comprising a striking arm (11) provided with a striking head (12), the striking arm being pivotable so as to allow the striking head to hit against an object. The striking head is provided with adjustable marking members (70), which are shiftable between different positions or states by a regulating unit (80). The striking head and regulating unit are movable into contact with each other so as to allow the regulating unit to set the positions/states of said marking members. The regulating unit is: - mounted to the striking arm so as to pivot together with the striking head, the striking arm being provided with damping means for damping the impact against the regulating unit when the striking head hits against an object, or - separated from the striking arm so as to be unaffected by the pivotal movement of the striking arm. |
