An LCD is provided to improve light efficiency by using a lamp holder that exposes at least a portion of a circumferential region of a lamp unit received therein. A liquid crystal panel forms an image. A plurality of lamp units(50) emit light to a back surface of the liquid crystal panel. A lamp holder(60) receives and supports end portions of the lamp units, and exposes at least portions of circumferential surfaces of the received lamp units. Each of the lamp units includes a lamp body(510), a lamp electrode(53), and a lamp line(55). The lamp body includes a light emission region where light is emitted, and a non-light emission region where the amount of light emitted is relatively small as compared to the light emission region. The lamp electrode is formed at each end of the lamp body. The lamp line is connected to the lamp electrode and supplies power to the lamp body. The lamp holder receives an end portion of the lamp body to expose the non-light emission region placed at each end of the lamp body. |
