PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressive chain having inward facing teeth. SOLUTION: The compressive chain is equipped with a plurality of sprocket engaging blocks 4 meshing with the teeth of a driving 1 and a driven sprocket 2, a plurality of guide links 5 installed on the sides of the blocks and coupled with them 4 by pins, and a holding band 10 installed along the oversurface of the block 5. In chain operation, a force is transmitted to the block 4 meshing with the driving sprocket 1 and then transmitted from the block 4 to the guide link 5, and the leading end in meshing of each guide link 5 transmits the force to the leading end in meshing of the next guide link between the driving sprocket 1 and driven sprocket 2 until the force is transmitted to the block 4 meshing with the driven sprocket 2 to generate a torque acting on the driven sprocket 2.
