<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for purifying exhaust gas containing particular matter, which is resistant to clogging and blocking of ash, efficient, and excellent in safety to environment. <P>SOLUTION: The device for purifying exhaust gas containing particular matter is comprised of a first filter device 1 supporting a catalyst to oxide NO in the exhaust gas into NO<SB>2</SB>, a bypass passage 8 communicated to a second filter device 2 described below to purge a deposit deposited in the first filter device 1, valve means 3, 10 to select either or both an exhaust gas flow-out path of the first filter device 1 and the bypass passage, and the second filter device 2 to trap the deposit in the purged exhaust gas, and to oxide and burn the deposit by NO<SB>2</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
