PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner having a filter cleaning function of automatically cleaning contaminant on a filter, and preventing accumulation of dust on a fan blade. SOLUTION: In the air conditioner, the filter is provided between a heat exchanger and an intake grill, and it is provided with a dust removing means for removing dust adhered to the filter, and an intake and exhaust device taking in and exhausting the removed dust. The intake and exhaust device is formed by a motor, a vortex flow fan, and a substantially U-shaped casing housing the vortex flow fan, a suction opening of the casing is connected to the dust removing means via a suction duct, and a blowout opening of the casing is connected with an exhaust duct exhausting to an exterior to exhaust the dust.
