<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain miniaturization of a portable terminal without reducing the functions available for the user. <P>SOLUTION: When a USB connector 221 of a USB device 200 is inserted into a USB port 121 of a portable terminal 100, a power supply terminal 122 of the portable terminal 100 comes into contact with a power source terminal 223 of the USB device 200 to supply power to the USB device 200. When an application program utilizing the USB device 200 is started on the portable terminal 100, a controller 1200 of the portable terminal 100 controls a power source module 1202 to initiate the power supply from the power supply terminal 122. Moreover, if the USB port 121 accepts a connection establishment request within a predetermined period following the initiation of the power supply, the controller 1200 establishes connection with the USB device 200, and if the USB port 121 does not accept the connection establishment request within the predetermined period, the controller 1200 outputs a message prompting mounting of the USB device 200. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
