A brake system for a door (4) of an excavator bucket comprising a first brake arrangement (1) including one or more brakes having a main body and two link arms (5) pivotally linked end to end, the one or more brakes being configured to retard an angular velocity of at least one of the link arms; and a second brake arrangement (2) including one or more brakes having a main body and two link arms linked end to end, the one or more brakes being configured to retard an angular velocity of at least one of the plurality of link arm; wherein the link arms of each of the first and second brake arrangements are disposed at differing angular positions when connected to the door.
