PURPOSE: An end mill is provided to increase working speed and to reduce noise occurred upon working and damage of load. CONSTITUTION: An end mill includes side cutting edges(4) and grooves(6), both of which have a shape of saw and are formed on a periphery portion of a cylindrical rod(2) in a helical direction, the groove(6) being provided with guide faces(8) for guiding chips generated from a work piece toward upper side. The guide faces(8) are formed with a plurality of protrusions(10), so that the chips rising along the guide faces(8) are separated from the guide faces(8) by the protrusions(10) and then become to rise and discharge.
