PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device capable of suppressing degradation in antenna characteristics caused by opening and closing of a housing. SOLUTION: The portable terminal device (portable telephone) comprises a first housing (reception housing) mounted with a circuit board, and a second housing (transmission housing) mounted with a transmitting and receiving antenna. The first housing is connected to the second housing in a turnable fashion between an open status and a closed status. The terminal device comprises: an infrared communication portion (infrared communication module 12) supplied with power by a circuit board and including a reference potential terminal (GND pattern 120) arranged at a position facing the transmitting and receiving antenna when the first housing and the second housing are in the closed status; and the circuit board on which a reference potential pattern is formed at a non-facing position to the transmitting and receiving antenna when the first housing and the second housing are in the closed status and which connects the reference potential terminal of the infrared communication part to the reference potential pattern via an inductance means (coils L1, L2).
