A plasma display panel and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce address power consumption in a special mode by applying differently gain values corresponding to APC(Automatic Power Control) levels. A plasma display panel includes a plasma display panel(100) and a controller(200). The plasma display panel includes plural discharge cells. The controller generates a control signal for driving the plasma display panel, receives address automatic power level values corresponding to a first image signal of a frame, and compensates for the address automatic power level values using a gain value corresponding to the received address automatic power level values. The controller reduces the gain value from a first address automatic power level when a gray scale for representing the discharge cells is divided into two groups and the gain value from a second address automatic power level higher than the first address automatic power level when the gray scale for representing the discharge cells is divided into n groups. |
