PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a warping expansion mechanism and a robot arm mechanism that can relax restrictions on application environment by actualizing rounded motion.SOLUTION: A warping expansion mechanism according to an embodiment comprises: a plurality of first connection units 23 in a plate shape connected to be bendable; a plurality of connection units 24 in a channel cross-sectioned shape connected to be bendable; an emission part 30 that has a columnar body formed as the first and second connection units 23, 24 are jointed to be restricted from being bent and also has the columnar body released as the first and second connection frames 23, 24 are separated and that constitutes the columnar body by joining the first connection units 23 to the second connection units 24 and also supports the columnar body; and a drive gear 50 which sends the columnar body from the emission part 30 and draws the columnar body back to the emission part 30.
