METHODS AND REAGENTS FOR EFFICIENT AND TARGETED GENE TRANSFER TO MONOCYTES AND MACROPHAGES The present invention provides a biosafe and useful vector to transfer genetic material to CD 14+ mononuclear cells (monocytes and monocyte-derived macrophages) in an efficient and specific manner. The embodiment of the invention makes use of the chimeric human adenovirus vectors 5 carrying the short fiber of enterotropic Ad40 to transfer genetic material to the target CD 14+ mononuclear cells.
