PURPOSE: To provide a gas generator for a pre-tension device for a vehicle occupant restraint system capable of reducing stress which a mechanical part of a driving unit of a safety belt device receives and effectively using motive power of the gas generator. CONSTITUTION: A propulsive charge container 26 is arranged in a housing 12, a first propulsive charge 16' is stored in a section prescribed by an inner tube 2 coaxially arranged in its center, that is, in a central reception part 42, and a propulsive charge 16" is stored in a section to surround the inner tube 28 of the container 26, that is, in a reception part 44. The propulsive charge 16' has lower combustion speed than the propulsive charge 16". An ignition device 18 having an impact transmission element 22 furnished with a head 24 is arranged in a section communicated to the reception part 42 through an ignition passage 36 having a booster 48. The reception part 44 and the central reception part 42 are separated from each other by a bursting diaphragm 30 to be broken by combustion of the propulsive charge 16'. |
