PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply method of a serial encoder enabling to reduce wiring of an encoder cable without a high frequency circuit or the like. SOLUTION: A first pulse transformer 7 for serial communication is provided in a control device 1, a second serial communication pulse transformer 8 is provided in the serial encoder 3, a power supply of the serial encoder 3 is supplied to a middle point of a winding on an encoder side of the first pulse transformer 7, the power supply of the serial encoder 3 is taken out from a middle point of a winding on a control device side of the second pulse transformer 8, and a shield coating of a data transmission path is made as a ground line to the power supply of the serial encoder 3.
