PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which has a mold release effect for a long period and has excellent fixability in fixing, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The fixing device for fixing an unfixed toner image G formed on a recording medium 3 is equipped with a heating roll 1 which fixes the unfixed toner image G to the recording medium 3 by heating the unfixed toner image G by abutting on the recording medium 3, a first applicator 4 which applies a first mold release agent at a prescribed width onto the surface of the heating roll 1, and a second applicator 5 which applies the second mold release agent having the heat resistance higher than the heat resistance of the first mold release agent but having the mold release property lower than the mold release property of the first mold release agent at a wider width than the prescribed width on the surface of the heating roll 1.
