PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image signal processing apparatus for correcting vertical stripes caused by deterioration or like in the transfer efficiency of parts of vertical shift registers of a CCD image sensor by means of simple image signal processing. SOLUTION: The signal processing decides whether or not a pixel value of a target pixel P<SB>0</SB>decreases more than left and right pixels P<SB>-</SB>and P<SB>+</SB>. When a decreased amount is less than a prescribed threshold, it is regarded that vertical stripes caused by deterioration or like in the transfer efficiency of the vertical shift registers take place, the pixel value of the pixel P<SB>0</SB>is replaced with a pixel value of the pixel P<SB>-</SB>or the pixel P<SB>+</SB>which is smaller, and a resulting image signal is outputted.
