PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interface circuit, a communication IP macro produced by the self-company and used in a final product, capable of easily confirming that the circuit is the communication IP macro produced by the self-company. SOLUTION: A SATA interface circuit 29 configures a response means including IP macro information retention circuit 41, selector 42 and special command monitor circuit 43. On receipt of a first special command from a host PC 21, IP macro information (IP macro type, version information, configuration information and operating frequency) of the SATA interface circuit 29, which is retained in IP macro information retention circuit 41, is automatically transmitted to the host PC 21 as a response data, without issuing an interruption to the CPU 27.
