A biometric authentication apparatus comprising: a single reading sensor configured to acquire first matching authentication characteristics data being unique to a first hand and used for matching, and second matching authentication characteristics data being unique to a second hand and used for matching; and a computer configured to execute a process including: transmitting to a server the first and second matching authentication characteristics data for one person as authentication data; calculating a prediction rotational angle of a difference between an angle of the first hand relative to the reading sensor for acquiring the first matching authentication characteristics data and an angle of the second hand relative to the reading sensor for acquiring the second matching authentication characteristics data; transmitting to the server the calculated prediction rotational angle; and receiving an authentication result from the server.
