PURPOSE:To provide optical waveguide components and a signal processing method therefor which allow that, when light is made incident on the optical waveguide components from, e.g. an OTDR(Optical Time Domain Reflectmeter), the light reflected by the optical waveguide components is subjected to exact time-sequence signal processing by the OTDR. CONSTITUTION:A base core 7 and a core for read-out use branched from the base core 7 are formed and, on the branching point, a thin film filter 10 is installed by which the incident light on the side of the base core 7 is partly penetrated and partly reflected toward the side of the core 12 for read-out use. Furthermore, the return light from the core 12 for read-out use is reflected to be returned back to the incidence side of the base core 7. The core 12 for read-out use is separately arranged with reflection slits 1 of which the crosssection of light transmission is trapezoidal. Here, the first reflection surface 15 of each reflection slit 1 plays the role of a reflection surface for read-out use which reflects part of luminous power coming from the side of the thin-film filter 10 again to the filter 10. The second reflecting surface 16 of each reflection slit 1 is made to play the role of external reflection surface which reflects the light toward the direction which deviates from the core 12 for read-out use. |
