PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect type of a printing plate in a supply process to enable proper handling operation after detection in accordance with the result of detection. SOLUTION: This printing plate supply device is provided with a plate storage part 6 in which deposit formed by piling up plates is arranged, a plate transfer means 15 for taking up the uppermost plate from the deposit and transferring it, and an object sensor Sw for detecting the presence of an object in a predetermined detection region to determine that the deposit arranged in the plate storage part is any of two deposits composed of plates having standard width and arranged in parallel or one deposit composed of a plate having twice width in order to determine handling operation for the plate.
