APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SENSING MULITI-TOUCH

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for sensing multi-touch input are provided to increase the touch sensing ratio and accuracy for a dead zone by selecting a coordinate value obtained from different sensor pairs if a touch point belongs to the dead zone of image sensor pairs. CONSTITUTION: First and second image sensor pairs(SS1-SS3) are installed at an edge of a touch surface, and a memory stores the coordinate value of first and second dead zones existing between first and second image sensor pairs. A multi-touch processor(32) calculates the coordinate value of a touch point from images obtained by the first and second image sensor pairs, and compares the touch point with the coordinate values of the dead zones. If the coordinate value of the touch point belongs to the first dead zone, the multi-touch processor selects the coordinate value calculated from the images obtained by the second image sensor pair.
