<p>The device has at least one analog-to-digital converter (12) for current and voltage whose output is connected to a microcomputer (14) with a stage for computing metering values, a tariff mechanism connected to the stage, an output for a display, inputs for operation and programming and possibly at least one control output and a communications output. A digital filter (16) for the powerline controller implemented in the software and hardware of the microcomputer is connected to to the output of the voltage analog-to-digital converter. A frequency-pulse converter (18) is provided for the output of the digital filter and its output is compared with a stored message to initiate at least one control process.
