PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct and set hydraulic pressure characteristic values to a safer (smaller transmission shock) side, when determining the hydraulic pressure characteristic values of an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: A control part of the automatic transmission outputs a drive signal for performing predetermined learning of precharge pressure or standby pressure, and makes determination by learning conditions based on fluctuation of turbine rotational speed Nt to obtain the hydraulic pressure characteristic values (precharge maximum time T<SB>0</SB>before correction, standby pressure P<SB>0</SB>before correction). Subsequently, the control part of the automatic transmission refers to a correction table defined so as to escalate correction amount, reduces correction amount in a section to which the hydraulic pressure characteristic values belong, calculates hydraulic pressure characteristic values after correction (precharge maximum time T<SB>1</SB>before correction, standby pressure P<SB>1</SB>before correction) and performs learning setting.
