A recording apparatus which comprises an decomposing chamber accommodating therein a liquid inking medium containing an electrolyte, a pair of electrodes disposed within the decomposing chamber, an ink supply unit for supplying the liquid inking medium into the decomposing chamber, and a signal generator for applying to the pair of the electrodes a signal necessary to electrolyze at least a portion of the electrolyte contained in the liquid inking medium, wherein gases produced as a result of the electrolysis of the electrolyte are utilized to discharge the inking medium so as to deposit on an image receptor to accomplish a recording. Alternatively, the gases produced as a result of the electrolysis are subjected to a discharge explosion to produce shock waves necessary to discharge the inking medium so as to deposit on the image receptor.
