<p>Cosmetic compositions are provided containing a thickening system that includes a heterobiopolysaccharide gum such as xanthan gum, an inorganic thickening agent such as magnesium aluminum silicate and a polyacrylamide. These compositions are particularly effective with thickening C1-C25 alpha -hydroxy carboxylic acids and salts thereof, especially at low pH. Furthermore, the combination thickening system functions to stabilize the compositions against phase separation.</p> |
