PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate a cation impurity amount in a cation exchange membrane during an operation of a fuel cell system while suppressing a rise in manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: An estimation method for a cation impurity amount is the one for estimating the cation impurity amount included in an electrolytic material in a membrane electrode gas diffusion layer junction body 5 of at least one fuel cell single cell 2 of a fuel cell system when the fuel cell system A is operated at a base output current IB and a base output voltage VB. The estimation method includes steps of: increasing an output current IOUT of the fuel cell single cell in a step manner from the base output current to a predetermined increased current IG and maintaining that for an increase time Δt0; measuring an output voltage VOUT of the fuel cell single cell in the increase time; and estimating the cation impurity amount on the basis of the measured output voltage of the fuel cell single cell.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
