PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nitrile hydratase and a nitrile hydratase gene.

SOLUTION: The nitrile hydratase includes (a) a protein containing a specific amino acid sequence or (b) a protein that contains an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acids are deleted, substituted or added in the specific amino acid sequence and has α-subunit activity of nitrile hydratase and (c) a protein containing a specific amino acid sequence or (d) a protein that contains an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acids are deleted, substituted or added in the specific amino acid sequence and has β-subunit activity of nitrile hydratase.
