PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely move back a movable sinker without using a large-sized needle driving source. SOLUTION: This driving gear 10 of a movable sinker comprises a motion transmission means for transmitting the forward-backward motion of a needle moving means to a sinker moving means. The motion transmission means forms a first and a second engagement parts 54 and 56 to be mutually engaged in the middle of the backward movement of the needle moving means 18 in the needle moving means 18 and the sinker moving means, respectively. The first and the second engagement parts 54 and 56 are displaced in the direction to disengage their engagement by bringing cam faces 58, 62 and 64 into contact with a contact part 60 with further backward movement of the needle moving means 18.
