Provided is an armature for a linear motor, in which the pressure loss of a refrigerant flowing through a cooling pipe is reduced, whereby the occurrence of a large deviation in temperature distribution in the entire of the armature can be suppressed. Manifolds (5, 6h) and a pair of first and second cooling pipelines (7, 9) are so configured that a refrigerant is supplied from the first one connection pipeline (27) of the first cooling pipeline (7) and the second one connection pipeline (33) of the second cooling pipeline (9) and discharged from the first other connection pipeline (29) of the first cooling pipeline (7) and the second other connection pipeline (35) of the second cooling pipeline (9).
