PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-core fiber for communication in which much more cores are able to be disposed on condition that they can be installed with secured reliability.SOLUTION: A multi-core fiber for communication 20 for propagating an optical signal comprises: a clad 12; three cores 11a separated from a center of the clad 12 by an equal distance, respectively, and disposed with equal intervals; and five to twelve cores 11b separated from the center by equal distance, and disposed with equal intervals so as to surround the three cores 11a. The outer diameter of the clad 12 is equal to or less than 230 μm, and a core other than the cores 11a, 11b is not disposed. |
