PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst for hydrogenation treatment having both of highly active desulfurization capability and highly active denitrification capability and capable of durably retaining the capability and to provide a method for hydrogenation treatment of a hydrocarbon oil using the catalyst for hydrogenation treatment. SOLUTION: In a catalyst for hydrogenation treatment produced by depositing at least one kind of actively hydrogenating metal components on a silica-alumina type catalyst support, (1) the content of silica is 5-40 wt.% based on the total weight of the support and (2) the spectrum obtained by nuclear magnetic resonance analysts (29Si-NMR) satisfies the followings: (i) the surface area of a peak at -800 ppm is 10% or more to the total surface area of all peaks and (ii) the total surface area of the peaks at -80 ppm, -86 ppm, and -92 ppm is 20% or more to the total surface area of all peaks. A hydrocarbon oil is brought into contact with hydrogen in the presence of the catalyst for hydrogenation treatment to be desulfurized and denitrified at high efficiency. |
