MAGNETORISISTIVE EFFECT THIN-FILM MAGNETIC HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the magnetoresistive effect thin-film magnetic head which never writes noise due to leak magnetic flux outside a writing track along the width. SOLUTION: The recording head of the magnetoresistive effect thin-film magnetic head constituted by providing a rectangularly sectioned write lower pole 20 on the top surface of the upper shield layer 19 of a reproducing head having an MR element 17a arranged between a reproducing lower gap 13 and a reproducing upper gap 18 and providing a writing gap 21 and a writing upper pole 22 thereupon is characterized by that the height H of the writing lower pole 20 is >=0.4μm. Namely, the height of the writing lower pole 20 (projection part) is so set that no write signal due to leak magnetic flux is generated outside both end parts of magnetic information along the track width when the magnetic information having the write track width is written by the recording head on a magnetic record medium.
