PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of performing defrosting operation according to the amount of frost adhered to heat exchanging parts and also enabling a reduction in defrosting operation time. SOLUTION: Solenoid opening/closing valves 14a and 14b are installed on the refrigerant inlet side in the defrosting operation of an outdoor heat exchanger 12 formed of the heat exchanging parts 12a and 12b to suppress the flow amount of a refrigerant for defrosting flowing according to the adhered amount of frost in the defrosting operation. When either of the heat exchanging parts 14a and 14b completes defrosting, the solenoid opening/closing valve of the heat exchanging part and an outdoor expansion valve are closed to increase the flow amount of the refrigerant for defrosting flowing into the other heat exchanging part. Thus, since the defrosting of the other heat exchanging part is promoted, the defrosting operation can be completed in a short time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
