APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECOGNITION OF PEN TOUCH FOR MULTI-TOUCH SCREEN

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for recognition of pen touch for multi-touch screen are provided to process an input signal made by a pen touch as a valid input signal, if a palm touch and pen touch are inputted simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: If a contact is detected in a multi-touch screen, a pattern classifier(310) searches the coordinate of the contact point. The pattern classifier classifies the contact point which is greater than predetermined size into segment, and classifies the contact point which is isolated from the segment as a candidate pen touch. An isolated point extracting unit(320) extracts a contact point separated from segment to the longest distance among contact points classified as the pen touch candidate in the longest isolation point. A pen touch determiner(330) confirms the extracted isolated point as a pen touch.
